On September 26, 2019, Buckingham Palace announced the engagement of Princess Beatrice of York to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi: “The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York to Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Her Royal Highness and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi became engaged while away for the weekend in Italy earlier this month. The wedding will take place in 2020. Further details will be announced in due course.”
Princess Beatrice of York is the elder of the two daughters of Prince Andrew, Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York and a granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II.
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, a multi-millionaire property tycoon, is the son of Nikki Williams-Ellis and Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, a former British Alpine skier who participated in the 1972 WInter Olympics. It is believed that the couple started dating in 2018. In March 2019, Edoardo accompanied Beatrice to a fundraising event at the National Portrait Gallery in London, England. The wedding of Lady Gabriella Windsor, daughter of Prince Michael of Kent, on May 18, 2019 was the first official royal family event they attended together.
