Breaking News: Queen Elizabeth II tests positive for COVID-19

February 20, 2022: Buckingham Palace has announced that Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom has tested positive for COVID-19. She is experiencing “mild cold-like symptoms” and “will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines.” Queen Elizabeth II received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in January 2021 at Windsor Castle, along with her late husband Prince Philip. Buckingham Palace has stated that they would not be making any announcements regarding additional doses, citing medical privacy. Queen Elizabeth II marked seventy years on the throne on February 6, 2022, and will become ninety-six years old on April 21, 2022.

On February 10, 2022, Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales tested positive for COVID-19 for a second time, and on February 14, 2022, his wife Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall tested positive. The Prince of Wales previously had COVID-19 in March 2020. Three other British royal family members have also had COVID-19: Prince William, Duke of Cambridge in April 2020, Princess Michael of Kent, wife of Prince Michael of Kent in November 2020, and Sir Timothy Laurence, husband of The Princess Royal in December 2021.
